Our first true album emerges from a sea of basement recordings and live takes. We wanted to give you a collection that you could hang your hat on and pass around like in the days when we’d record tapes for each other.

The canary is a beckoning to the days when coal miners would send a lone canary into new unexplored territories to test the atmosphere. Like us coming up from the bottoms to test new terrain and space, this is our canary. Please treat her with love, pass it on, share it with your music friends or the casual listener. We hope there’s a little something for everyone, with a promise of more to come.

This album represents the first ion of our life as a band, we’ve done so much more since we wrote and recorded most of these songs, but it feels like such an accomplishment to just get it out into the world.

We all played different roles in this beyond the writing, jamming and playing of the music. Big kudos to Jim who did the lion's share of the mixing, to Matt who imagined the world a lost interstellar spaceman and designed the art, title and concept of The Canary Tapes, to Jon who orchestrated, sometimes against his get'er done nature, our bi-weekly duo releases and final release on all streaming apps, to Jeremiah for always pushing the band forward and keeping us straight when recording and song writing, and to Nod for continuing to drive forward the machine that is Sun Jr.

Also a big, BIG thanks to our families who have supported us through this band endeavor, we are lucky to have you and we couldn't do it without your blessings and encouragement. And finally, thank you to our fans and friends, if no one ever liked the music this experiment may have been over before it began, but the support over the years has been the fuel that keeps us running. Yes, we do it because we love it, but with out your applause, smiles and booty shakin' it just wouldn't be as fun, Thank you! This is just the beginning. We hope you enjoy, The Canary Tapes.
